Bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) (Hospira®) is a sterile solution used for diluting or dissolving research peptides. It contains benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which may help inhibit the growth of bacteria in the water.

Bacteriostatic water should be stored at room temperature and discarded if it becomes discolored or contaminated.
